Random Thoughts

I know it's been some time since I've posted. We've been sick for a couple of weekends in a row.

The girls like to take their toys to the kitchen table so we always seem to have toys all over the table. That can make it a little hard to get the table set, but it's fun to see the creations they come up with.

A few weeks ago my parents came out and Gwen helped Pop-pop clean the corn. I have to share those pics cause they are so cute.

I had to share this odd pic. We were going in to the local grocery store and an amish vehicle came in that you just have to see. Imagine that running around the local roads...ugh!!! (Sorry about the quality)

Start of a New School Year

Ailish started Pre-K school on August 31st. Her first day went without a tear. She picked out the outfit she wanted to wear from some of the new dresses we bought her over the weekend. She said that they read a book about a mouse getting covered in sauce, sang "Mary had a Little Lamb" and talked to her friend Ariana. She excitedly told me that her name was on a blue teddy bear. (Her bookbag hook has her name over it.)

Today, Grammy got her ready for school. She looked so cute with her hair in a pretty white scrunci and a "Sharpay" dress. She had another good day at school. She said they read a book on trains and sang again.

I like picking her up from school. The time in the car with her alone allows us to talk about the day before she gets into something more exciting at home to occupy her time.

A Fishy Post

We managed to pick up three fish at the fair. Uncle Jake was able to land a ball in the little jar of water and met up with someone who didn't want their two, so we came home with happy little girls who love their three fishies! Gwen named hers "Puppy" and Ailish named hers "Cheesy Poof" and "Sour Cream". (Ailish loves whipped cream. We can't convince her that it's not named sour cream.) Sadly, Cheesy Poof, didn't last very long and had to take the long swim down a short pipe. But the other two are still swimming strong. I just couldn't resist taking a picture of them!

Fair Time 2009

Is there anything cuter than kids and animals?

There is a lot to look at - so we walked a lot. But we made sure we stopped to have refreshments the whole way.

I love fair time, no doubt! The atmosphere is everything I remember loving as a kid. My brother and I were a part of 4-H and raised 2 pigs each as soon as we turned 8 years old. Every year, my parents put up the pop-up camper and we would spend the entire week there. That way, we were able to be up at the crack of dawn to get the pigs spruced up for the show on Tuesday and then ready for the sale at the end of the week. We had a good time every year!!! Due to my parents paying for the costs to raise the pigs every year, at the end of my time in 4-H, I was able to pay for most of my first year in college. This year, I had the opportunity to give back! My parents and I decided to split the purchase of a pig. No, we aren't keeping it. It was sent on to the butcher for us straight from the fair. I'm so happy to be able to give back to an organization that meant so much to me in my youth!!!
Thank you, Mom and Pop, for helping me achieve this goal!!!

Birthday Campfire

For our birthday, my parents had a campfire on the hill. We had the radio on and lots of food. There were pizza pockets, hot dogs, mountain pies and s'mores! Holy cow, we ate so much! The girls enjoyed the fire just as much a Mommy and Daddy! Ailish ran around like a crazy person after she had a whole s'more for herself. Gwen didn't love the food, but she was really helpful when it came to unpacking all the food. It's so relaxing sitting by the fire.

Fun

Sometimes the most fun comes from the simplest things. Forget the toys and the tv, get the kids a box! They climb in and out, play hide and seek (hmmm, wonder where they could be hiding???), drag every stuffed animal in with them, and have a great time just dragging the box around the house.

Bathtime for the kids can also be fun. By the time we are done, not just the kids are soaked. Of course, I edited since this is the internet. So, instead I put up pics of the soap the kids like to use. This one smells like strawberries! YUM! Gwen has a good time by-passing the roller and just shakes all the goo out. There looks like a horrible accident has occurred. By the time we're done the tub water is actually PINK! Haha!

Going to the Zoo

We went to the zoo this past Saturday. Ailish and Gwen loved the prairie dogs! They were digging, wrestling and eating. They were really active so they were a lot of fun to watch. We also enjoyed this one lizard that kept sticking his tongue out. The kids thought he was really funny.

We stopped for ice cream on the way home!

I have some other pics of the girls, of course!

I really like to do self-portraits with the camera. I think that I'm pretty good at it! Here's my latest.
