Weekend Getaway

We spent the weekend at Nanna's house. On Saturday April 25th, there was a May Day street fair. The main street was shut down and each block was set up with different themes.

There was a wild animal display. Gwen loved the Blue Tongue Skink! She also loved the carved wooden bear that we found.

Ailish loved the toy shop that had a marble track. She'd have played there for a long time if we'd let her.

I loved the balloon arch that spanned main street. I took a picture of the girls and Nanna under it.

Then when we got home Gwen drew a picture. She must have really liked the balloons!

Ailish Starts School

This week was full of change: Ailish started Pre-K on Monday. She had to get used to a new schedule, Gwen had to figure out what to do with her mornings and Mommy had to get used to getting the kids ready for the day before going to work. Daddy has to put up with all of us being cranky by evening when we have had enough of each other and are just plain tired.

Things Ailish learned this week:
1. Getting dressed and having our hair combed IS NOT like being a princess.

2. If we don't eat breakfast, there isn't a second chance. Thank heaven for snack time at school!!!

3. "NoNoNoNoNo. You know the rules!" (Apparently the teacher likes to say this)

4. Absence makes the heart fonder. Ailish really misses Gwen and Gwen misses Ailish when they aren't around each other.

Easter

Ailish and Gwen had a good Easter at Nanna and Pop-pop's house. On Saturday they dyed eggs for the Easter bunny to hide. Ailish was interested in what color the eggs were going to be. She got a kick out of dipping the eggs in and out of the dye to see if the color had changed. Gwen was more interested in getting color on her hands and pouring the dye over the egg. She's all about pouring liquid from one container to the other just to see if it holds the same amount. (Not that she stops pouring if it holds less.)

They looked for eggs on Easter. The bunny had a trail leading up to a basket just full of goodies to keep the kids zooming around the house for days.

Trying Something New

Maybe this is the way to allow all of our family see our kids as they grow and play. I know that it's hard to find time to get together and the kids grow so fast!
